John E. Bakos, MD
John E. Bakos graduated from Ohio State Medical School in Columbus, Ohio in 1962. After completing an internship in the intensive care unit at a local Ohio hospital, he entered the US military, where he went into public health service on the Crow and Cheyenne Indian reservation in Crow Agency, Montana. As a Captain of the US military,
Dr. Bakos also spent 3 months assigned to the coast guard Ocean Station Victor as the doctor on a ship, in the Pacific Ocean. During that time, he received a medal for performing the first appendectomy at sea since WWII, and ultimately saving the man’s life. After his two year completion in the military, Dr. Bakos spent the second year of residency at Monterey County Hospital in Salinas, California. and then took over a private general practice.
In 1974 Dr. Bakos became a board-certified anesthesiologist at which time he moved to the Roseville area and practiced at Roseville Community/Sutter Hospital as an anesthesiologist for 25 years.
As the current Medical Director at JB Medical Wellness Clinic in Folsom, California, he enjoys helping people live healthier lives. Spending time at the weight loss and wellness clinic has inspired Dr. Bakos to dedicate a few years on the mysteries surrounding high cholesterol and influenced him to study the cholesterol-artery connection to form a picture of the problem and write a groundbreaking, new book in December, 2013 titled, So You Want to Live to be 100? This book shares a “no pill” cure for high cholesterol and includes recipes to lower cholesterol to help you live a long life.
